GO AND PONDER

It happens every year: December comes around and your calendar fills up. Between Christmas parties, gifts to buy, and meals to plan and cook, you’re completely caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season. If you’re not careful, you end up too busy to actually celebrate Christmas.

During the first Christmas, there’s this one quiet line about Mary: “But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2:19 NIV).

Right in the middle of the miracle, Mary paused to take it all in—everything that God had done. Surely she was remembering God’s faithfulness, His promises, His timing, His goodness.

The same God who was faithful to her is also faithful to us today. But if we never slow down, we risk missing the quiet ways He’s moving right now. In a culture that moves fast, pondering is a quiet kind of worship; the kind that slows us down long enough to notice God’s goodness again.

Don’t let the rush of the season drown out the reason for it. Take time to pause and remember God’s faithfulness. Reflect on how He’s provided, answered, and led you—even in ways you didn’t recognize at first. Like Mary, treasure these moments in your heart. The more you slow down, the more you’ll see His goodness on display.
