GO THE DISTANCE
As a child, were you ever called into the principal’s office? Perhaps, more recently, your boss has asked to “see you for a minute.” A short walk to their office suddenly feels like trudging through the longest hallway in the world. Your mind starts racing: What did I do? Did I mess something up? Am I in trouble?
That might have been what the Magi felt when King Herod summoned them. They’d come to worship a newborn King, and now, they were face-to-face with the current one. Herod was powerful, paranoid, and unpredictable. Yet even that meeting didn’t stop them from doing what they came to do. They kept following the star until they reached the place where Jesus was.
The Magi remind us that when God calls you to something, you can’t let fear, delay, or opposition knock you off course. Their journey was long, uncertain, and full of obstacles, but they kept going. They went the distance.
Maybe you’ve gotten off track in your relationship with Jesus. Maybe life’s gotten busy, distractions have piled up, or disappointment has made you lose sight of Him. The good news? He’s still where He’s always been: waiting for you to draw near again. The Bible says that when we seek Him, we find Him. Don’t stop short. Don’t give up halfway. Keep following. His presence still brings fullness of joy, forgiveness, and grace.
Go the distance. The same God who guided the Magi will guide you—step by step.
