GO QUICKLY

There’s a big difference between hearing from God and responding to God. Odds are that if you’ve been walking with Him for a while, you’ve probably heard from Him at some point. Perhaps you knew that He was calling you to do something…but then you put it off. You waited for a better time, something more convenient, or more confirmation. But delayed obedience often becomes disobedience.

When the angels left and the sky grew quiet, the shepherds could have stayed where they were. They could’ve talked about what they saw, argued about what it meant, or decided to sleep on it. But instead, Scripture says, “They hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger” (Luke 2:16 NIV).The word “hurried” literally means they moved with eagerness. Their hearts were stirred, and they couldn’t wait to see what God was doing.

They didn’t sit on what God had shown them—they moved. Their quick obedience led them straight to Jesus.

God often stirs our hearts with moments like that—nudges that call us to act. Sometimes it’s a conversation to start, a person to call, a step of faith to take.

When God stirs your heart, don’t sit on it. Don’t delay. The longer you wait, the easier it is to talk yourself out of what God is calling you to do. Go quickly. Make the call. Take the step. Say the prayer. Like the shepherds, move quickly toward what God is doing!
