Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Twoنموونە

Flee sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18 NKJV).
Why is Genesis 38 and the account about Judah inserted in the narrative about Joseph (Genesis 37–50)?
I’m glad that you asked that question! Joseph is a contrast to Judah. We find that when Joseph is tempted, he flees from his temptation. On the other hand, we have Judah, who is promiscuous. He is going out looking to do what is wrong. The two stories are juxtaposed (placed side by side) to show the contrast between Judah and his perverted sons (Er and Onan) versus Joseph. We are told in 2 Timothy 2:22 to flee youthful lusts, and Joseph becomes a model for us to do the same.
We shouldn’t put ourselves in an environment where we might yield to sin, but if we find ourselves being tempted, then run (Romans 13:14)! Your exit strategy should consist of just one word: Run!
Employment Point: Sprint from temptation and pursue holiness with godly saints.

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
