Day 26 — Your Words Are Powerful
Our everyday language reflects the thoughts in our mind, and ultimately, has the power to shape our beliefs and determine our choices.
Proverbs 18:21 says: “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (NIV). Through our own mouths, we have the power to build up or tear down, to open ourselves to new possibilities or to remain stuck within our limits. Every word we speak is a seed that will eventually bear fruit.
For example, in the workplace, sometimes we speak without realizing the weight of our words. A comment such as, “That idea will never work,” can deflate a colleague’s confidence and shut down creativity. These words may seem small in the moment, but they carry weight.
On the other hand, words like, “We can figure this out together.” “I believe in your potential.” or “This challenge is tough, but we got it” can shift the atmosphere, strengthen a team, and bring faith into situations where doubt once dominated. What we speak sets the culture around us. Words can either drain hope or fuel vision.
Speaking in faith does not mean ignoring reality, but choosing words that shape it according to the truth of God’s Word. We must be intentional with the language we release. Our words can either align us with a negative mindset, or with a positive one of abundance and opportunity.
Take time to reflect on how you can intentionally reframe your language to reflect a mindset of abundance, faith, and opportunity in every area of your life. Take it one step further and select a person to write a text or email with words of encouragement.
Prayer: Lord, help me to recognize when my words reflect a mindset of scarcity, fear, or doubt. I want to use my voice to declare Your Truth, to align my thoughts with Your vision, and to build with my words a reality that glorifies Your name. Amen.
