Following the GPS of The Spirit

Have you ever known exactly where you’re going but still turned on your GPS for good measure? What happens when that GPS tells you to take a different route than what you had in mind? Often, we still try to take the way we know, even though the GPS is telling us something completely different.

I’ve been there, ignoring the GPS because I was “sure” I knew the way, only to regret it when I hit traffic or got lost.

This is what it's like when we are in such a rush that we ignore the direction of the Holy Spirit, hoping that taking our usual way will get us there faster. We feel confident in our plans, or we are pressured by what makes "sense" on paper.

But God’s instructions often take us through routes we wouldn’t choose ourselves.

Consider how often you pause to ask God for guidance and then how frequently you follow it, especially when the path doesn't seem popular or the way that appears to make the most sense. There is no rush to our destination, honestly, we eventually determine that more than getting to the destination is the things we experienced on our journey.

Today, reflect on where you might be relying more on your own understanding than God’s. Is there something He’s been nudging you to do differently? You have time.

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, help me to trust Your direction, even when it challenges my plans. Teach me to listen and follow Your voice without hesitation. In Christ's name, Amen.
