“I called to the Lord out of my distress,
and He answered me. # Ps 34:6; 120:1

into the heart of the seas,
and the flood surrounded me. # Ps 69:1–2
All Your billows and Your waves
passed over me. # Ps 42:7
4Then I said, ‘I am cast away
from Your sight; # Ps 31:22
yet I will look again
to Your holy temple.’ # 2Ch 6:38
5The waters encompassed me; # La 3:54 even to my soul
the deep surrounded me;
weeds were wrapped around my head.
6I went down to the foundations of the mountains;
the earth with its bars was around me forever;
yet You have brought up my life from the pit, # Job 33:28; Ps 16:10
O Lord my God.
7“When my life was ebbing away,
I remembered the Lord;
and my prayer came to You,
into Your holy temple. # 2Ch 30:27; Ps 11:4
8“Those who follow vain idols # 2Ki 17:15; Ps 31:6
forsake their true loyalty.
9But I will sacrifice to You
with the voice of thanksgiving;
I will pay what I have vowed. # Ps 50:14
Salvation is of the Lord!” # Ps 3:8
10Then the Lord spoke to the fish, # Jon 1:17 and it vomited Jonah out upon dry land.
