Then He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a remote place and rest a while,” for many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.

Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own relatives, and in his own house.”

When Jesus came out and saw many people, He was moved with compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And He began to teach them many things.

He could not do any miracles there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He was amazed, because of their unbelief. Then He went to the surrounding villages, teaching.

When He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them. And He divided the two fish among them all. They all ate and were filled. And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments and of the fish.
