Day 19: The Lord Goes Before You

I can’t deny it. I was totally surprised and caught off guard when I found myself in a mental hospital for the first time. I was afraid and greatly discouraged. My life felt completely rocked and shattered. But God reminded me of Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV. It says, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

This verse informed me that God indeed was not surprised by my admission into the mental hospital. Instead, He already knew what was going to happen and was with me the entire time. After all, He said He will never leave me nor forsake me.

The same applies to you. God knew the struggles you would go through and said He will not leave you alone to deal with them by yourself. So you do not have to be afraid or discouraged. God goes before you and is with you every step of the way.

Prayer point:

Heavenly Father, Almighty God, thank you for going before me. Thank you for not being surprised at what happens in my life. Please anchor me to you. Help me not be afraid or discouraged by my struggles. Help me lean into you and have faith to overcome. Strengthen me and encourage me with your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
