Romans 11
Are You Asking the Right Question?

We live in a world that loves answers. Not just any answers—ones that agree with us. Think about it: you ask a friend for advice, and they dare to tell you what you didn’t want to hear. “Don’t date them.” “Don’t take that job.” “Don’t go to that party.” And suddenly, their advice isn’t helpful—it’s offensive. So what do we do? We shop for the answer. One friend says no, so we go to another until someone tells us what we want.

It’s no different with God. In a world full of complex questions—what’s right, what’s wrong, what’s wise—we often approach God not for wisdom, but for validation.

God’s wisdom is infinite. Ours? Not so much. And yet we often search for answers that comfort us, instead of truths that challenge us. We say we want depth, but often we’re just looking to confirm what we already believe.

Here’s the truth: you will never grow by eating food thrown at you. If all you ever consume is what’s handed to you—without chewing on it, wrestling with it—you’ll stay shallow. It’s time to grow in faith by wrestling with the hard stuff. Not by asking better teachers for better answers, but by asking better questions.

Solomon had the chance to ask God anything. Wealth. Power. Cures. Answers to mysteries. Instead, he asked for wisdom. He understood that the best thing he could do wasn’t to get the answer to every question—but to become the kind of person who could discern what’s right and wrong. And God loved that question so much, He gave Solomon everything else as well.

So what are you asking God for?

Is it, “Why didn’t you answer my prayer?” or “God, am I praying what You want me to pray?”
Is it, “Why do bad things happen to me?” or “God, show me what decisions I’m making that might be creating this pain?”

Sometimes, the breakthrough you’re looking for isn’t just one answer away—it’s one question away. Are you asking the hard ones? Are you prepared to be wrong? Are you willing to stop feeding on easy answers and start digging into the feast God has for you?

It’s time to stop being a circus clown with your mouth wide open, waiting to be fed. God’s calling you to dig in. You can approach His throne boldly. Ask the questions that scare you. The ones that cost something. Because on the other side of those questions is real growth, real faith, and real wisdom.
