Living With an Eternal Perspective: A Guided Reading of Peter's Letter to the Persecuted Church

ДЗЕНЬ 2 З 8

When something is inherently special, you instinctively treat it differently. This wasn’t a behavior you were taught. Even the small child sets apart her favorite toy amongst the others in the chest. A stranger walking through a bedroom is likely to discover what is special to the owner - observing which objects are given places of honor. A collector carefully displays their prized acquisition apart from the others of its kind - drawing special attention. In our lives, things with special value receive special treatment. We make them HOLY. Holy means “set apart”.

Amongst all creation, God is set apart in a way nothing can rival! He is Holy. And He calls us holy and commands us to be holy in our behavior. Believers in Christ are holy because believers are redeemed.

Christ’s blood is our defining attribute. This is the blood that sets you apart. In God’s eyes, that is what identifies you.

In response, you now hold this responsibility to live in such a way that aligns with the “set apart-ness” you already have in Christ.

Questions to ponder:

If a stranger had been silently observing you this week, what would they say is “holy” to you?

Most people love someone, so what makes the love of a Christ-follower stand out? How can you show this sincere love this week?
