A Bigger Story
In Jacob’s story, he works his whole life to get his father’s blessing, but then he tricks his father to get what he wants. The effect of this is tragic. His brother wants to kill him and he has to flee for his life.
Imagine what Jacob must have thought during that time:
“Why is this happening to me?”
“Nothing ever works out for me.”
But then God comes to him, and speaks to him, and affirms His promise. He says “I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I promised you.”
When I think my life is over, God invites me to a bigger story.
Exercise:
Think about a time you were resentful about a decision you made. In which way did things turn around? Talk to Jesus about it.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father, give me the grace of freedom from resentment. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
