Jesus loves you. He gave His life so you could be set free from the consequences of sin. Ultimately, though, it wasn’t love for you that gave Him the strength to see His assignment through; it was His love for God the Father, Who sent Jesus. Jesus the Son loved God the Father so much He wanted everyone to understand Who He was and love Him as much as He did. The best way to do that was to let God the Father’s plan play out so others would see just how good, gracious, merciful, and kind He was.

Jesus lived and died to glorify God, and we all benefitted from it.

To glorify means “to cause to be or to treat as more splendid or excellent than would normally be considered” or “to honor with praise, admiration, or worship.” This passage says that Jesus glorified God while here on earth.

To follow Christ is to do as He did.  That begins with accepting the forgiveness for sin God made available to you through Jesus’ death. If you haven’t accepted this forgiveness, you can do so today. If you already have, the next step is to live your life in the same state of surrender to God’s will and plan that Jesus did so God can display His goodness, grace, mercy, and kindness through you.

Thank God for the gift of Jesus Christ and the opportunity to love and serve Him like Jesus did.
