Toe Job die slegte nuus hoor, het hy begin rou. Hy het opgestaan en sy klere geskeur. Hy het ook al sy hare afgesny. Toe het hy neergeval en met sy gesig teen die grond gaan lê. Hy het gesê: “Toe ek gebore is, het ek met niks in hierdie wêreld ingekom nie. As ek uit hierdie wêreld uitgaan, sal ek weer sonder enigiets weggaan. Wat ek het, het die Here vir my gegee. Die Here het dit ook weer weggevat. Die Here moet geprys word!” Ten spyte van alles wat gebeur het, het Job nie verkeerd gedoen nie. Hy het God ook nie blameer vir wat gebeur het nie.
