Die volgende dag sou Jesus uitgaan na Galilea, en Filippus kry en vir hom sê: Volg My. En Filippus was van Betsaida, die stad van Andreas en Petrus. Filippus het Natanael gekry en vir hom gesê: Ons het Hom gevind van wie Moses in die wet en die profete geskrywe het: Jesus van Nasaret, die seun van Josef. En Natanael sê vir hom: Kan daar iets goeds uit Nasaret kom? Filippus sê vir hom: Kom kyk. Jesus het Natanael na hom sien kom en van hom gesê: Daar is waarlik 'n Israeliet in wie geen bedrog is nie! Natanael sê vir hom: Waarvandaan ken jy my? Jesus antwoord en sê vir hom: Voordat Filippus jou geroep het, toe jy onder die vyeboom was, het Ek jou gesien. Natanael antwoord en sê vir Hom: Rabbi, U is die Seun van God; U is die Koning van Israel. Jesus antwoord en sê vir hom: Glo jy omdat Ek vir jou gesê het: Ek het jou onder die vyeboom gesien? groter dinge as dit sal jy sien. En Hy sê vir hom: Voorwaar, voorwaar Ek sê vir julle, van nou af sal julle die hemel oop sien en die engele van God op- en neerdaal op die Seun van die mens.
