The Story of God

Jesus' death and resurrection reconcile us with God, but they also reconcile us with each other. These verses from Acts 11, where the Greek converts give aid to the Jewish Christians in Jerusalem, are a powerful demonstration of the love and unity that is fostered by faith in Jesus.

Broken relationships are a big theme in the Bible: humanity's broken relationship with God, but also the broken relationships we have in our families and nations. Cain murders Abel, Ishmael and Hagar are driven out, Esau rages against Jacob, and then the nations battle against each other in bloody wars.

Jesus brings peace on earth as he reconciles us with God, and also as he reconciles the warring nations of the world with each other, making them brothers and sisters in his Kingdom. Ancient enemies lay their weapons aside as they become friends. There is no more division between Jew and Gentile when they share the same Prince of Peace.

Questions

In what ways are you making peace with others? In what ways are you sowing division?
