Jesus didn't just die to free us from sin; he also rose to free us from death. His death deals with our present problem, and his resurrection secures our hope for the future - eternal life with him.

While we are waiting for Jesus to return, we don't need to wait for eternal life to begin. Jesus shares his life with us through the Holy Spirit, and we can begin tasting the delight that will last an eternity now. He also shares his mission with us, giving us the great honour of being his ambassadors and representatives.

Unfortunately, some people treat Jesus' mission as an optional extra. But Jesus' mission flows out of his life and the work of the Spirit in us. Learning to delight in Jesus and expressing that delight (by sharing how great he is with those around us) should go together.
