Created for More - Explore How the First Seven Days of Creation Still Shape Who You Are Today预览

Have you ever felt stuck in the middle? Not where you were, but not yet where you’re going?
On Day Two, God creates space.
“And God said, ‘Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.’ And it was so.” (Genesis 1:6–7 ESV)
The Hebrew word for “expanse” is raqia, which means something stretched or spread out. Picture a tent canopy or a hammered metal dome. God spreads out the sky by creating the firmament, forming the boundary between heaven and earth like an artist stretching a canvas on a frame.
But what’s striking is what He does: He separates water from water. Not water from land — not yet. He divides something that was one and places space in between.
This is not disorder. It’s divine design.
Just like on Day One, God brings distinction. He doesn’t erase the waters. He sets boundaries. And in doing so, He makes room — room for atmosphere, for growth, for what’s coming next.
God doesn’t always remove the deep. Sometimes He places space in it. And that space becomes sacred.
“And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.” (Genesis 1:8 ESV)
He names the space. That tells us even the in-between has a purpose. The “not-yet” is holy when God is the one who stretches it.
If you feel suspended between the deep things of your past and the promises ahead, remember: God works in the space between. It’s not delay. It’s preparation.
REFLECT
- Are you in a “between” season where God hasn’t revealed the full picture yet?
- Do you trust that even the between space has divine purpose?
- What boundaries is God forming in your life right now?
PRAYER
God, You don’t just fill. You form. You don’t just speak into chaos. You create structure from it. I surrender the spaces that feel empty or unclear. Stretch them according to Your will. Let the sky above me remind me: You are the One who sets boundaries, builds order, and prepares me for what’s next. Amen.
