7 Days to Phone Freedom预览

Get Smart
Congratulations! Today is the final day of the Phone Freedom Challenge!
Do you feel more free? Are you the master of your phone? Did you reclaim your agency and attention? Do you feel your heart reawakened to the goodness of God?
This is the freedom, joy, and power you receive when you seek the Kingdom first. When God has your heart, the purpose and use of your phone fall into place.
Under the direction and wisdom of the Holy Spirit, you are the master of your phone, knowing when to use it to glorify God and put it down for the benefit of others. When new technologies arise, or you’re swept back into phone addiction, there are abundant resources in Christ to help you return to Him—confession, repentance, humility, awe, and agency. With these resources, you can withstand the storms that threaten to knock you off your feet.
We know the work hasn’t been easy, and you will continue to face challenges and temptations. But, we hope you feel confident making decisions and setting healthy boundaries because now you’re resting your phone habits on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ.
Today, we invite you to respond to what you’ve learned: To build a house of new phone habits and boundaries resting on the foundation of Christ and protect your time, agency, and faith with grace-filled discipline. Actions built on belief serve as guardrails to help you keep your freedom with your phone. This is the kind of discipline, as the writer of Hebrews wrote, that brings a harvest of righteousness and peace. This is what you have been and will continue to train for all the days of your life!
Here is a short list of phone habits and boundaries to get you started. Consider which ideas will help you fight temptation and live the abundant life God has promised you. Then, don’t wait! Get started today!
- Set screen time limits on your phone and stay accountable. (Be sure to set times for productivity, social, and entertainment apps as well).
- Enjoy a phone-free day once a week. (aka, Sabbath).
- Turn off all notifications.
- Delete “junk food” apps from your phone. (Junk food apps are those you anticipate looking at, suck your time, and leave you feeling disappointed, unsatisfied, and uncertain.)
- If you use social media for work or pleasure, limit your time and set boundaries for when you will check it each day.
- Don’t use my phone as the alarm that wakes me up each morning.
- Enforce no phone zones: Where are the places in your life or times in your day that you have a “no phone zone” policy?
- Ask a friend/spouse/etc. to hold you accountable (and don’t be short with them when they do!)
