Have you ever asked yourself questions such as “How do I know I’m going to heaven?” “Have I sinned too much to be redeemed?” Or maybe, “I still don’t feel fulfilled, what do I do?” John 6:15-50 guides us through these questions and can help calm our fears and anxieties and hear what Jesus calls us to do in these times of worry.

How do I know I’m going to heaven?

Let’s look at John 6:40 “For this is the will of my father, that everyone who looks on the

son and believes in him should have eternal life and I will raise him on the last day.”

It isn’t God’s goal to punish us. He wants a relationship with us, but He will not

force it on us. All it takes is true belief and faith in the savior Jesus Christ and God will give us eternal life.

Have I sinned too much to be redeemed?

John 6:37, says “All that my father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.”

God will never cast us out. We are sinful and broken people, but Jesus died for our sins. He will always love us and welcome us back to the home where we truly belong. He is a loving and forgiving God and we are never too far gone to repent and turn our hearts towards Jesus.

I still don’t feel fulfilled, what do I do?

We read in John 6:35 “Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”

And in John 6:49-50 it says “Your fathers are the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die.”

These verses show us that the things of this world will never truly fulfill our hearts, but rather it is the things of heaven and from God that will fulfill us and give us the gift of eternal life. If you look to God in times of emptiness and when you feel unfulfilled, He will fill your heart and meet your needs.

Prayer:

God, please open my heart and allow me to fully surrender to you and believe that you love and accept me. Help me remember that I am forgiven and free. Lord, help me to believe that you will fulfill me. Please take away my anxiety and doubt, and fill me with your love and grace. It’s in your wonderful name that I pray. Amen.
