Remember the Lord
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” The first words of Psalm 22 were uttered by Jesus from the Cross. As the Messiah, the Son of David suffered ridicule, rejection, and suffering as had God’s chosen King David a millennium earlier. In David’s humiliation was anticipated the greatest humiliation of all, that of God’s eternal Son. But His greatest sorrow and grief was that even God forsook Him. Forsook, yes! Forgot, no! God remembered. He has not “hidden His face from Him; but when He cried to Him, He heard.”
We live in a world where to “declare His righteousness … that He has done this” for those who have not yet heard this good news. Then “all the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all families of the nations shall worship before Him.” God remembered! May we remember! For our sakes and for their sakes.
