When I studied 2 Peter for the first time I thought that it was a book I couldn't really relate to. When Peter talked about false teachers that didn't click with me whatsoever because I didn't think that was an issue in the Church today...at all.

Then I began to study some of the beliefs of various current denominations, and I was shocked to realize that there is false teaching going on EVERYWHERE. I am blown away by how unbiblical some teachings are, yet people believe it because they don't know the Bible for themselves.

Well guess what:

The belief that you must repent through another person is NOT biblical.

The belief that miracles no longer happen is NOT biblical.

The belief that the Holy Spirit is no longer relevant is NOT biblical.

The belief that child baptism covers you for life is NOT biblical.

There are many things taught in some churches today that are just flat out lies, but you wouldn't know that unless you knew the truth. That's why I am so proud of you for taking the time to dive into the Word this year and learn for yourself what is and what is not of God. We have the two greatest gifts in the world available 24/7: the Holy Spirit and the Bible. Don't let a day slip away without taking advantage of each of them.

Spend some time in prayer this week thanking God for providing you with the desire to study His Word. Also, ask Him to open your eyes to see what is from Him and what is a lie that has masqueraded as truth in your life.
