CORINTHIANS


AUTHOR:

The author of both letters to the Corinthians was the apostle Paul.


DATE:
First Corinthians was written between AD 55-56, while Paul was in Ephesus. Second Corinthians was written less than a year later from Philippi.


AUDIENCE:
These two letters were written to the church in Corinth and were later shared among other churches in the area.

Corinth was a major party city in it's time. We would compare it to Vegas today. It was a place of pleasure and indulgence. The Corinthians focus was self satisfaction. They weren't an easy bunch to deal with, but Paul was just the right guy for the job.


FIRST LETTER


REASON:

Paul was writing in order to help with church affairs based on reports from his friend Chloe's people and a letter sent by a group of Corinthians.


THEME:
Love is the reason for everything.


KEY VERSE:
"Let all that you do be done in love." (16:14 ESV)
