When Life is “Lifing”

Life is unpredictable, and at times, it can feel like life is “lifing” harder than we can handle. The pressure, the pain, and the difficulty often make us want to escape or shut down. But the Bible tells us that trials aren’t just obstacles; they’re opportunities—opportunities to grow, mature, and deepen our faith. When life gets hard, God is still at work, refining us.

That’s good news.

I’ve had moments when everything seemed chaotic—getting two kids ready for prom and graduation, going on tour, negotiating contracts, or navigating shifting relationships. It often feels like there’s constant change, and it’s easy to get lost in what’s immediately before me. But God began to shift my perspective. I realized that His promises are eternal, not based on my ever-changing circumstances.

The testing of my faith produces perseverance. Even when I can’t see the fruit right away, I trust that God is doing something deep within me. The hard seasons aren’t just something to endure—they are opportunities to grow and become more complete in Christ. So while life does what it does, and while I do what I know to do, I let God do what He does.

Reflection Points:

  • What trials are you facing right now that you could see as opportunities for growth?
  • How can you choose joy even in the hardest seasons, knowing that God is working through it?
