Day 6: Tape Won’t Fix You

"But Peter said, 'I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk'" (Acts 3:7, NLT)!

Several years ago, my son was a Rubik’s Cube expert. His fastest time solving one was 17.8 seconds (he’s a genius—what can I say, all glory to God). One day, as he was rapidly twisting and turning the cube, one of the squares popped out. He rushed to me, shouting, “Dad, hurry, I need tape to fix my Rubik’s Cube!” I laughed and said, “Tape isn’t going to fix it, son.” He insisted, and after I gave in, he quickly realized that tape wasn’t the solution.

How often do we try to fix our lives with temporary solutions? We think a new relationship, a better job, or more money will “fix” everything. The man in Acts 3 thought money was what he needed to solve his problems. But when Peter and John encountered him, they didn’t give him money—they gave him something far better: healing in the Name of Jesus.

If Peter had given the lame man silver and gold, he might have eaten for a few days, but he would have remained in the same condition. Instead, through Jesus, he received healing that changed his entire life. Many times, we pray for quick fixes when God wants to bring Lasting Transformation. He’s not just interested in patching things up—He wants to renew and restore us completely.

Today, ask yourself: Am I settling for “tape” solutions in my life when God has something greater for me? Instead of looking for temporary fixes, turn to Jesus—He is the only One who can truly restore what’s broken.

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, help me stop chasing temporary fixes and instead trust in Your Lasting Transformation. Thank You for knowing exactly what I need and providing in ways far beyond what I can see. Amen.
