The fourth key truth of the gospel is bittersweet: Jesus Christ died to pay for my sins.
God’s love is so strong for us that He made a way to pay for every sin through Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8 states in clear terms, “…God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” The next verse (verse 9) states that we, “…shall be saved from wrath through him [Christ].” The gospel truth means that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ will not have to suffer the pain and separation of an eternity in Hell. Sin’s penalty was completely paid by Christ’s death, and His resurrection is living proof we can trust His power!
