The third key truth of the gospel is that everyone’s sin must be paid for.
Romans 6:23 lays out, “…the wages of sin is death.” What mankind earns for our sin is death— a physical death (Romans 5:12), but also spiritual death (Ephesians 2:1). Everyone will die one day, but even worse than that is that our sin will separate us from God forever. This place of separation is called Hell. We have caused a rift between us and the Creator of life by betraying Him in our sin, and what we have earned because of this is eternity in a place that wasn’t even created for us (Matthew 25:41).
