Back to the Basics 365

DAY 235 OF 365

Disciples should live a sanctified life. The word “sanctified” is found throughout the pages of the Word of God. It can be defined simply as “set apart”. This means that our lives are set apart or sacred, devoted to God’s purpose for our lives.

2 Timothy 2:20-22 speaks on this as it says, “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” Our lives can be pictured as vessels of gold, silver, wood, or earth. Some of these vessels are to honor and some to dishonor.

There are things in our lives we are to purge (reject), which allows us to be a vessel of honor, sanctified and prepared to be used by the master. As we grow in this sanctified life, God uses us for His service and glory.
