Back to the Basics 365

DAY 222 OF 365

As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are to love what He loves and hate what He hates. We see a warning in 1 John 2:15-16 which says, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.

If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” We are to love others in the world, but not love the things of this sin-cursed world. Any of the worldly things that are against God and His Word, we are not to love. There is no room in our hearts for both a love for God and for the world.

1 John 2:16 outlines what the love of the world includes: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. These are not of the Father.

Has a love for the world crept into our lives? Be careful, because when a love for one comes into our heart, a love for the other is pushed out.
