GO IN PEACE
There are a lot of words people use to describe the holiday season:
Busy.
Hectic.
Chaotic.
Expensive.
Exhausting.
The list goes on. But peaceful isn’t usually one of them.
And yet, peace is exactly what Jesus came to bring. In Luke 2, we meet Simeon, an elderly man who had been waiting his whole life to see God’s promise fulfilled. The Holy Spirit had revealed to him that he wouldn’t die before seeing the Messiah. One ordinary day, the Spirit led him to the temple—just in time to meet Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus.
At that moment, all of Simeon’s waiting was fulfilled. Holding Jesus in his arms, he prayed, “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace” (Luke 2:29 NIV).
When Jesus is present, peace is possible. Isaiah foretold it hundreds of years earlier, calling Him the Prince of Peace. Simeon’s peace came from seeing Jesus face to face.
This season, peace may not come from your schedule, your budget, or your plans—but it can come from His presence. Like Simeon, learn to wait and listen. The Holy Spirit led him to Jesus, and the same Spirit leads us today. Slow down. Make space for His voice. Let your waiting turn into worship, and your worship into peace. The Prince of Peace still brings rest to those who draw near to Him.
