DAY 5 OF 30

Learn To Be Thankful

It will be tough to do boot camp training if you are among the grumblers and complainers.

We are told God’s will for us is to be thankful regardless of our circumstances. “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV

If you have ever read about the Israelites’ exile from captivity, you know that even after they witnessed the great supernatural miracles of God, they became negative, grumbling, and complaining. They even blamed Moses for leading them away from slavery. Imagine that, yet despite the many blessings people enjoy this day, they continue to complain.

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34 NKJV God has been so good to us and has shown us great love; therefore, we should express our gratitude to Him daily.

Have you ever been in a situation where you gave and gave of yourself through time and resources, doing so with genuine love, yet the recipient of your kindness never bothered to thank you? Don’t get me wrong; we don’t do things to receive praise, for that belongs to the Lord. However, in these situations, when there is no gratitude shown, it makes you feel unappreciated and as if the person thought they were entitled. If we feel this way, imagine how God feels.

Every person should cultivate thankfulness, as it deepens their understanding that God often works through people on earth. It also keeps the heart tender and soft. If they aren’t thanking people for kindness, most likely they aren’t thanking God either.

God desires us to be thankful so much that the Psalmist told us how to approach the Lord. “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” Psalm 100:4 NKJV

Prayer: Heavenly Father, may the first words from our mouths as we wake each morning be ones of thankfulness! As we move about the day, let our eyes remind us of our many blessings and turn our thoughts into thoughts of thanksgiving! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

About this Plan

Earth Is Heaven's Bootcamp

Compared to eternity, life on earth is but a short time. The world is home to an estimated 722,000 centenarians (age 100), according to the United Nations’ population projections for 2024. That is, .02 to .03% of the world’s population. Whether we die young or live to be old, what we do in between will matter. Living here is boot camp training to qualify for heaven!
