He Is The Word, Read It!!

Learning to live truly and to do well in earth’s boot camp, we need the word of God. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 NKJV

Scripture is so important because it establishes that the Bible contains the very words of God, our Creator.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV

In the book of Deuteronomy 6:6-7, we are given instructions about the word. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” NKJV

In rearing our children, it would be interesting to know if that were part of our daily schedules. We ensure that our kids attend pre-school, school, and extracurricular activities, but how many parents, blessed by God with children, actually teach their kids about God’s word?

“knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1:20-21 NKJV

Psalm 119:11 even tells us why we must be in the word of God: “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” Why? If we let the word become part of our very being, it will help us avoid walking in sin. NKJV

I’ve had many people tell me they don’t read the Bible because they don’t understand it. In this day and age, we have many translations from which to choose. The Message Bible, The Easy to Read Version, Amplified (which encapsulates the meaning as you go), to name a few.

New readers should begin with the book of John and then proceed to the other three gospels, followed by the rest of the New Testament. Once you have read the books under the New Covenant of Christ, it becomes easier to understand the Old Testament under the law.
