DAY NINE— Set Apart for God
Before God gave the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai, He told the Israelites to prepare themselves. They were to wash their clothes, abstain from certain activities, and consecrate themselves. Why? Because they were about to encounter the living God.
Consecration is about preparation—setting ourselves apart for God’s purposes. It’s not about outward rituals as much as inward posture. God was teaching Israel (and us) that His presence is holy, and meeting with Him requires reverence.
In Christ, we are called to live consecrated lives—not just on special days, but every day. That means aligning our hearts, habits, and priorities to reflect that we belong to Him.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- What does “consecration” look like in your daily life?
- Are there habits, distractions, or compromises you sense God calling you to lay down in order to draw nearer to Him?
- How can you prepare your heart to encounter God more fully?

About this Plan

THE PROMISED LAND and Milk and Honey Productions have created this plan to help individuals and groups engage the story of Exodus and Leviticus in a fresh way. In this 30-day devotional, you’ll see clips from THE PROMISED LAND, read passages of Scripture, and reflect on questions that connect Israel’s journey to your own walk of faith. Through humor, reverence, and honesty, we’ll discover that God uses ordinary, imperfect people to accomplish His extraordinary purposes.
