The apostle Paul described contentment as a “secret” that he had to learn. The Puritan Jeremiah Burroughs called it a “rare jewel” that one must seek out. One thing is certain: in a competitive, prideful, materialistic world, we will never stumble into contentment. The Bible teaches us that we will find it only as we turn our eyes to God, our Provider, trusting Him to give us what we need and thanking Him for what He has given.
