Start Dreaming Again: From Valley to Vision

DAY 15 OF 30

What Do You Have in Your House?

“‘For nothing is impossible with God.’” Luke 1:37 NLT

Ever feel like the walls are closing in and there’s no way out? You’re desperate for a path through the dire situation, but you are stuck. Whatever you’re facing, if you stir your faith to see with spiritual eyes, there is one simple question that can carve the way out of your seemingly unsolvable problem.

What do you have in your house?

In the days of the prophet Elisha, there was a widow whose husband had passed, leaving her and her two sons destitute and in debt. The creditors were at her door, threatening to take the sons as slaves. She cried out to Elisha for help, and he responded with a question. “‘What do you have in the house?’

‘Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,’ she replied. And Elisha said, ‘Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled’” (2 Kings 4:2–4 NLT).

In faith, she gathered the jars. And then she poured... She poured from that flask of oil, miraculously filling jar after jar until there were no more jars to fill. Then she sold the oil, paid off her debts, and had enough money left over to support her family.

God can use anything to work a miracle. Take a look around. Spiritually and physically, take an inventory. Is there something you consider ordinary or inconsequential that, when placed in the Lord’s hands, could become your provision, your way forward?

- A talent you haven’t tapped into

- An opportunity you’ve pushed aside

- An item on your shelves

- A spiritual weapon of prayer that you’ve not taken out of its sheath?

Whatever your dilemma, big or small, prayerfully consider and take inventory. Listen for God’s wisdom and insight. What do you have in your house?

Pray:“God, I bring my situation before you. I ask for your intervention and I look to you for divine provision. Help me see my way through, in Jesus’ name, amen.”

Seek: What situation seems impossible to you right now? What do you have in your house? Take an inventory and listen for the Lord’s voice. Your answer may be in your hand already.

Speak: Nothing is impossible with God! He is my way through this situation.
