Bible App for Kids – Discover God’s Big Story

DAY 12 OF 30

TODAY’S STORY

Stones, Slings, and Giant Things from 1 Samuel 16-17

Note to the parents:

God often uses the least obvious person in incredible ways—as we see in this story! Remind your child that people do amazing things because God helps them.

Help your child recall the story by asking simple questions about what happened.

Examples:

  • Does God care more about our looks or our hearts?
  • Who was afraid of Goliath?
  • Did David trust in armor to protect him?
  • Why was David brave enough to fight Goliath?

Together, think about what you have learned. Invite your child to ask you the question.
Encourage them to add their thoughts or fill in a blank when prompted.

What did we learn about GOD?

  • God sees what is in our hearts.
  • He especially cares that we know and trust Him.
  • He is with us when we are brave enough to live for Him.

What did we learn about PEOPLE?

  • People sometimes care about things that don’t matter, like clothes, money, or size.
  • But God wants us to pay attention to growing beautiful hearts, instead.

What do you want to say to God after reading this story? (Prayer)

Let's pray together.

God,
You were with David.
I know You are always with me, too!
(Name some specific places where you may feel scared or afraid.)
Help me to be brave like David by trusting You.
Amen.

Build anticipation for tomorrow:

In today’s story, God helped David do something incredible! I can’t wait to share tomorrow’s story together.
