40 Days to Awaken Your Sober MindНамуна

What if instead of asking “Do I want a drink right now?” you asked “How do I want to feel tomorrow morning?”
This is called “playing the movie forward” and one of the most powerful mindset tools you can use to create lasting change. You’ve seen the scenes before: the pour, the numbing, the regret. But you can change the ending. In order for this tool to be effective, it requires real honesty, not just good intentions. For me, I knew when I opened a bottle, I rarely had just one glass.
Proverbs reminds us that wisdom sees ahead and takes action. And Jesus tells us in Luke 14 to count the cost before we build. What is the real cost of “just one more”?
Listen, Sister, you’re not stuck. You’re strategic. You’re not impulsive. You’re intentional. You get to write a new story, starting today. The Lord has already won the battle, but we’ve got to show up for the fight and use the tools He has given us.
In Psalms 91, God promises to be our protector against the schemes and traps of the enemy. He is our deliverer, especially when we stumble into enemy territory due to cunning and deceptive tactics that we may not have initially recognized. Remember, Sis, this isn’t about perfection; it’s about staying awake, alert, aware, and present in your own life.
Prayer:
God, give me wisdom to think beyond the moment. Help me picture the outcome and choose what honors You and my future self.
Journal Prompt:
Play the movie forward. How do you usually feel the day after drinking? What would a different ending look like?

About this Plan

Have you found yourself at the end of a long day, wondering, “Is this glass of wine really helping? You’re not alone. Let's awaken your sober mind through presence, grace, and truth. We’ll explore what it means to pause, connect, and live in alignment. We’re going to look at what God’s Word says about freedom, peace, and wholeness. Each day, I encourage you to slow down and really reflect. Let this be more than just a reading. Let it be a rewiring. You are not broken. You’re being rebuilt. One day at a time, one choice at a time.
