Because God Is My Helper

James needed help. His sleeping bag wouldn’t stay rolled up. Every time he tried to roll it, it would come unrolled again! The camping trip had been fun, but now James felt frustrated.

He was about to give up on his sleeping bag, but then he remembered a Bible verse he’d learned. It was Psalm 54:4, which says, “God is my helper” (nlt). James said the words aloud and prayed for God’s help.

Taking a deep breath, he tried again. At that moment, his dad poked his head inside the tent and asked, “Do you need a hand, Buddy?”

James nodded, and together, they rolled up the sleeping bag, tied the strap around it, and put it in the carrying case.With a big smile on his face, James said, “Thanks, Dad! I prayed, and God sent you to help me!”

His father patted him on the back and said, “That’s awesome, Son! It’s always a good idea to ask God for help.”

A few moments later, James was climbing into the backseat when he saw his sister having trouble with her seatbelt. Quickly, he reached over to help. Because God was his helper, he wanted to help too!

Here is a prayer to take with you: “Lord, thank You for sending help when I need it. I know You are with me. Amen.”
