Transformed by His Promises

DAY 4 OF 30

PERSEVERE WITH HOPE KNOWING GOD IS SHAPING YOUR CHARACTER

Romans 5:1-5 (NLT): "Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love."

Mindful Minute: Because of the Holy Spirit, we can rejoice in hope. While hope may be present through His Word, it is not always a felt experience because of the shame of sin, especially with a habit that controls our lives. Letting go of life-interfering behaviors is hard work that requires intentional redirection toward something better.

At the start of this journey, there will be times when we feel the suffering as we let go of behaviors that once consumed us. How do we endure this suffering? We do it by continuing our practice of daily gratitude because every good thing comes from God (James 1:17), and because we trust the promise of reigning with Him (2 Timothy 2:12).

God has promised us something better. You are closer to the finish line than you realize. Walking this path will produce endurance. Endurance produces character, and character anchors our hope. Our hope in Christ is a continual source of strength. It is steady and perseveres. Hope becomes evident in our character as we persevere.

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for dying on the cross and giving me access to peace through my faith in you. I want to experience the peace you offer. I am committed to this 30-day process because I have hope, and I want to get rid of all the shame. I am tired of living a life where the shame of a habit occupies more time in my thoughts than the hopes and dreams I can access through you. I want to experience your plans, to prosper and impact others through my journey. I want people to see the quality of my character through you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

About this Plan

Transformed by His Promises

Break free from destructive behaviors and be renewed by God’s promises—one prayer, one gratitude, one reflection at a time. Life’s struggles, temptations, and wounds can trap us in destructive patterns. But God’s promises bring hope, healing, and transformation. In Transformed by His Promises, spend 30 days renewing your mind through Scripture, prayer, and gratitude journaling. Each day: pray the Lord’s Prayer slowly and with intent, list 10 things you’re grateful for, and record any reflections from your reading. These spiritual practices help break old habits, replace fear with faith, and anchor your life in God’s truth.
