Overflowing Hope

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13 NIV)

This verse is a beautiful prayer and promise—a reminder that God doesn’t just give us enough to get by. He fills us to overflowing.

Notice the order: trust, then filling, then overflowing. As we trust God—even in uncertainty—He fills our hearts with His joy and peace. Not from our own strength, but through the power of the Holy Spirit working within us.

That kind of hope isn’t fragile or fleeting. It’s not based on circumstances. It’s rooted in the unchanging character of God—the God of hope—who wants His Spirit to pour into us so abundantly that it spills out to those around us.

If you’re feeling empty today, don’t try to muster more strength on your own. Come to the Source. Trust Him. And let the Spirit fill you again.

God of hope, I trust in You. Fill me with Your joy and peace today. Let Your Spirit overflow in me, so that I may be a source of hope to others. Amen.
