Who Is Jesus? 7 Days in the 'I Am' StatementsНамуна

Read John 10:9: Jesus said: I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.
We’re joining Jesus here as he challenges some religious leaders, who have just rejected Him. And we also need to know that in the Bible, it was very common for sheep and shepherds to be used as a picture of God's people and leaders.
Jesus says that these religious leaders are totally wrong to reject Him, because He is the gate to the sheepfold. He's saying that He is the only way into God’s kingdom, the way to become part of God’s people. He’s the access point. He's just told them they can’t just climb over the wall. They’ve got to come through Him.
But if anyone does, there's an amazing promise: they’ll be saved. We can be rescued from the darkness of our own sin and brought into light and life. It’s such a beautiful picture: of sheep that are safe, grazing on the grass of a pasture. People cared for by God.
How is this possible? Listen on for what Jesus says next...

About this Plan

If you had to finish the sentence ‘I am...’ I wonder what you’d say? The answer would say something important about you. But have you ever wondered how Jesus would finish that sentence? In John's Gospel, one of the Bible accounts of Jesus' life, we get the answer. In fact, we get seven answers. Over seven days, this plan looks at each one in turn and simply asks what Jesus said and what it means. The answers are life-changing.
