This Is the Day

A lot of people like to look toward the future at the beginning of the year. There is something inspiring and refreshing about a fresh start and a clean slate. A new year brings the hope of new opportunities and the promise of tomorrow. Today may be the start of a new calendar year, but it is also an opportunity to be rooted in the present. Each and every day is a gift.

We don’t know how many days we will be given, so it’s important to face each moment with gratitude, intention, joy, and thanksgiving. We give ourselves an incredible gift when we live fully with the time we have. It’s easy to get caught up in what we hope will happen, but we must be careful not to miss out on what’s right in front of us.

God is present with you in this very moment. He doesn’t wait for special moments to show up. He isn’t holding himself back until you get your life figured out or reach the goals you’ve set. He is as close in this breath as he ever was or will be. Turn your attention to his nearness. He is with you in the most mundane and ordinary moments of your life. Slow down and thank him for his ever-present faithfulness. Take a deep breath and recognize that you are never alone.

There is no better time than right now to lean into the presence of God. He offers you the fullness of his grace and mercy every single time you turn to him. Don’t plan for the future so much that you breeze past the present. Instead, thank God for the gift of today. Find reasons to rejoice here and now, and rest in the presence of God’s love as it washes over you. Live fully, love generously, and remember that God is with you always.
