This passage was written many generations before Jesus was born. What kind of oppression did the original readers need to be rescued from?

SO WHAT? Why does it matter?

• How might it have felt to wait so long for a savior? Why do you think it matters to you that people waited years for Jesus to show up?
• What kind of experiences were true of people in Isaiah's time that still seem true today?

NOW WHAT? What should I do about it?

• When have you waited a long time for Jesus to intervene or act in a situation? Describe how that felt during the waiting and in the moment God stepped in.
• Is there an oppression or wrong you wish Jesus would fix right now? What is it?
• What would it look like for you to trust in Jesus as a savior who has both come and is still to come?
