After hearing the prophet Huldah’s message, King Josiah gathers the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem, and he reads aloud the book of the covenant which had been found in the Temple.

[Josiah] stood by the royal column and made a covenant with the LORD to obey him, to keep his laws and commands with all his heart and soul.

Reflect

What was Josiah's covenant with the LORD (verse 31)? What did he ask the people to promise to do (verse 32)? What promises have you made to God?

Lord God, help me to keep your laws and commands and to obey your teachings with all my heart and soul. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.
