Ask Seek Knock - Sermon on the MountSample

Ask Seek Knock - Sermon on the Mount

DAY 4 OF 15

A child psychologist conducted a study and found that young children ask as many as 93 questions per day! Why is the sky blue? How does a car work? Where do birds go when it’s raining? How come I can’t stay up as late as you? Can I have some chocolate? If you don’t ask you won’t find the answer and if you don’t ask you won't receive! Jesus teaches in His Sermon on the Mount to ask. Have you ever asked a grown up for something outrageous and they said, “NO!”. God answers our prayers, but not always in the way we want. Sometimes God says, "yes", sometimes He says, "wait" and sometimes He says, "no". Think about the reason you’re asking God for something. Is it because you want something that someone else has? Is it because you’re wanting something for a selfish reason? Think about it this way: if God answered your prayers right now, who would be helped? Just yourself or others, too? If we pray just asking God for selfish things, the things that we want, then we’re praying for the wrong reasons! We can pray that God’s will would be done, that people would grow closer to Him and experience His goodness, healing, blessing, and protection.
