Ending the Year on PurposeVzorec

Relational
“Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.” ― Unknown
I don’t know that there is anything more important for us to examine at this time of year than the friendships we have. The habits of our friends are bound to influence our own habits. Oftentimes, out of loyalty and to avoid grief, we allow unhealthy people to remain in our lives when, in fact, we’re well aware of the detrimental effects of their closeness.
As the proverb mentions, we should have relationships that sharpen us. What good is it to hold onto the friendships that dull the vibrancy of who we are in Christ? Friendships are the relationships we choose, so let’s be purposeful with our choices. Let’s be wise about the current season of life and honest about whether or not a person’s friendship is beneficial.
Reflection:
In what ways might the Holy Spirit want you to pay closer attention to the way you steward the relationships you have with the people in your life?
How healthy are your current friendships?
What's one thing you can do today to live more purposefully in this area?

About this Plan

Adapted from The Last Thirty Devotional, this plan is a journey designed to challenge readers to end their year with greater purpose and intentionality. We will not wake up on New Year's Day and suddenly have better eating habits, relational habits, or work-related habits. We have to make intentional decisions today in order to see lasting change and truly experience a fulfilled life tomorrow.
