## True worship happens when… III #2. I Get Physically Involved . 2 Sam. 6:14 reads, “ David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the Lord with all his might… ” (NIV, paraphrased). David danced, he got physically involved. He could have sat in the king’s carriage, dishing out instructions for worship and sacrifice. But not David, he danced before the Lord his God with all his might. Mark 12:30 says, “ You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength .” God wants you to be physically involved in worship. Aside from dancing, the Bible shows us several ways we can get physically involved in worship: sitting [1 Chronicles 17:16], walking [Psalm 48:12], jumping [Acts 3:8], kneeling [Psalm 95:6], clapping [Psalm 47:1], standing [Psalm 33:8], among others. David also worshipped through his sacrifices on the journey (as we read yesterday). Getting physically involved with worship is important to God. Get physical; true worship is when I get physical in worship. #3. I Let The Music Move Me Into God's Presence . 2 Sam. 6:15 “ So David and all the people of Israel brought up the Ark of the Lord with shouts of joy and the blowing of rams’ horns (trumpets) .” David praised God with his whole life, with every means he had available: if music was available, he praised with music; if there was room to dance, he danced. A lot of the time, people engage God based on their personality. You might not like to dance, but God asks you to dance. What should you do? Dance for the Lord. #4. I Am Engaged And I Am Not Passive . 2 Sam. 6:16: “ But as the Ark of the Lord entered the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she was filled with contempt for him .” Michal was passively watching from her window while everybody else in Jerusalem was on the streets with her husband, the king. In this world, being truly passive is not an option; if you aren't actively growing and engaging with God, the enemy has the opportunity to plant his own seeds. The Bible says that at the time kings went to war, David was passive, and it got him into trouble [2 Sam.11:1-2]. When people are passive in worship, they are open to the enemy. For you to be a true worshipper, you have to be active in worship. Look at fruit and weeds for example; growing fruit takes effort but weeds need no effort to grow. When you leave your mind shallow in worship, weeds have room to pop-up. What would have happened if Michal went to join David on the streets? There would have been no room for the enemy to sow contempt for David in her heart. Sometimes, you need to command yourself to ‘get up and praise God’ like we see in Psalm 57:8. Why? It is because God has been faithful, and He deserves our praise.
