I Surrender All: Building and Leaving a Legacy for Generations

Day 1 of 4 • This day’s reading

Devotional

SURRENDER

Surrender is a practice that is completely inseparable from our walk with Jesus and without it we are not walking with Jesus completely. We can say that we know Him and even that we love Him, but if we are not fully surrendered then we need to ask ourselves: Are we following Him fully?

One of the reasons that it is so important to know that your surrender is ALL ENCOMPASSING is that you have been entrusted with a certain number of resources as God sees you capable of being a good steward. Jesus explains in the parable of the talents (see Matthew 25:14-30), that we are to use what is entrusted to us wisely, no matter how much surrender it requires. In God’s economy, many times He will call us to do certain things to grow our endurance to handle more resources.

When we surrender our lives to Jesus, we have to know that we are surrendering our WHOLE LIVES. This includes both our personal AND our professional lives. Too often we are prone to separate the two.

I’ve been following Jesus for nearly my entire life AND I’ve been a businessman and co-owned a business with my wife, Marla, for 25 years. I’ve seen how different people develop over time. Development is key, because business without growth will quickly lead to all sorts of problems. A business is nothing without the people who make up its team. It’s more than a team though, it’s a family, a group of people with different roles and titles partnered together for a purpose.

All of us growing, becoming, and developing. All of us surrendered individually together for a common goal. Each of us going through our unique process to become all that God desires us to be.

There is no part of your process that is wasted, no season of life that God won’t use. I really believe what the scripture says in Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Over the course of this four-day plan, I want to share with you a spiritual workout routine that I’ve discovered in scripture as well as one that I have experienced time and again in my own life. We’ll find it together in the life of Moses.

Are you ready to fully surrender?

Are you ready to be developed by God in your WHOLE LIFE?
