V ten deň, keď sa zvečerilo, im povedal: „Prejdime na druhý breh.“ Nato opustili zástup a jeho vzali so sebou, tak ako bol, v člne. Sprevádzali ho aj iné člny. Tu sa strhla mohutná búrka s víchricou a vlny sa valili na čln, takže čln sa už napĺňal. Ježiš však spal na vankúši v zadnej časti člna. Zobudili ho a povedali mu: „Učiteľ, nedbáš, že hynieme?“ Zobudil sa, pohrozil víchru a prikázal moru: „Mlč, utíš sa!“ Vtedy víchor ustal a nastalo veľké ticho. A im povedal: „Čo ste takí ustrašení? Ešte stále nemáte vieru?“
