Ježiš sa obrátil k ženám a povedal: „Dcéry jeruzalemské, neplačte nado mnou, ale radšej plačte samy nad sebou a nad svojimi deťmi, lebo hľa, prichádzajú dni, v ktorých sa bude vravieť: ‚Blahoslavené neplodné, loná, čo nerodili, a prsia, čo nedojčili.‘ Vtedy začnú hovoriť vrchom: ‚Padnite na nás,‘ a kopcom: ‚Prikryte nás!‘ Veď ak toto robia so zeleným stromom, čo sa bude diať so suchým?“
